[Checkout](https://support.teesnap.com/teesnap-app?hsLang=en#checkout) # How to Zero Out Gift Card Balances ## This article will explain how to zero out/exhaust a gift cards available balance. 1. To start, begin by logging into the [Teesnap Admin portal,](https://admin.teesnap.com/teesnap-portal/) For reporting purposes, you will need to create an inventory sub-category called "Zero out gift card" allowing you to identify where these gift card sales/zero outs will appear in your reports. To add an inventory sub-category, follow the steps in[this article.](https://support.teesnap.com/how-to-add-inventory-sub-categories?hsLang=en) 2. Create a "Zero Out Gift Card" product at a $0 retail price and add your newly created "Zero Out Gift Card" inventory category. Click **Configuration** at the top of the window and be sure to add this product to a display category, in our case we used the display category "Other". After completing the steps above, return to your **Teesnap Application via the iPad** and then navigate to the cart in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Tap on the "other" tab on the left-hand side of the page to find the "Zero Out Gift Card" product. ![IMG_0757](https://support.teesnap.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0757.jpg?width=688&height=503&name=IMG_0757.jpg) 7. After adding the product to the cart, tap on the product name to override the price. **IMPORTANT**: At this point, you should input the BALANCE of the gift card you're looking to "Zero Out".  ![IMG_0758](https://support.teesnap.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0758.jpg?width=688&height=503&name=IMG_0758.jpg) 8. Tap the **Override** button in the top right corner (this permission can be turned on/off in the admin portal). ![IMG_0759](https://support.teesnap.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0759.jpg?width=688&height=503&name=IMG_0759.jpg) 9. Input the new price (gift card balance you wish to remove/zero out) then input a reason, in our case, we used "Zero out gift card". Upon returning to the shopping cart, you will see the new price of the Zero Out Gift Card product is $5. (in this case, the gift card we're zeroing out has a $5 balance remaining). Tap on the **Other** tender type at the bottom of the page, then tap on **gift card/rain check**. ![IMG_0766](https://support.teesnap.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0766.jpg?width=688&height=500&name=IMG_0766.jpg) 14. Input the account number/gift card, after entering the information you will see your gift card code appear along with the current balance remaining on the card.
