TEENOC 1728 - The Credit Card Reader And The IPad Can Appear Disconnected and Still Charge the User

TEENOC 1728 - The Credit Card Reader And The IPad Can Appear Disconnected And Still Charge the User When Selecting Create Tab, Then Cancel While In The Shopping Cart.

TEENOC 1728

Planned Release: 5.53

Steps to Replicate

    • Log in to the iPad and go to Teesnap Golf Links (Property ID 350)
    • Navigate to the shopping cart.
    • Add any product to the cart, then select the create tab.
    • Hit the X on the top right, then attempt to pay for the cart with any credit card.
    • Observe what occurs while the card is being read and after:
      • The text on the screen fails to update at all from:
      • Swipe, Tap or Insert Credit Card
      • The reader shows indicators (lights and beeping) that the charge went through successfully.
    • Note:
      • These charges are reversed by the reversal job in the examples I’ve seen so far.

Workaround

  • When the user notices they are not going to create a tab:
        • Going to the cart to the teesheet, then back to the cart, fixes the bugged state.
  • When the customer’s card is charged, but no charge appears collected:
      • First, go to the teesheet view, then go back to the cart.
      • Now attempt to pay with a different credit card:
        • If the user attempts to pay with the same credit card, it may get declined for being a ‘duplicate charge’.
        • To remedy this, the end user must discount the bill amount by 1 penny or opt to pay with cash for 0.01 in order to change the amount being charged. Once the amount being charged is updated, the credit card will now be accepted.
